Week 7 Recap

#1 Barfinkle/Team Sit on My Face 47 - #14 Malkin 40

IT WAS OVER...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
A lot later than it should've been. Malkin-Rosenfeld is a good combination for opponents, but Barifinkle couldn't take advantage. Also, motivation is lacking for Barifinkle, who know they're going to finish 8-0. They've earned a breather before the playoffs.
Chris Sweitzer. With star point guard Ryan Murningham absent, Barifinkle needed a leader, and Sweitzer stepped up. Sources say he had upwards of 15. Conor Healy also helped carry Barifinkle, going into double figures as well.
"33's a lot of points to cover Hermanson" - Conor Healy

Up Next: Barifinkle vs. Ortega. Malkin vs. Tallula
#2 Men 36 - #6 AK-47 34 (3 OT)

IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
Mike Maley put back a Willy Moore miss at the buzzer for his only two points of the game. Willy passed to Sopko, and Maley's defender went out to guard Sopko, leaving Maley wide open for the put-back. The real drama came at the end of the first OT, when Gorodetsky's double-pump 3 at the buzzer, with Sopko in his face, dropped to win it for AK-47. The basket was called good, but later the refs congregated and determined that it came after the buzzer, and changed the call to no good. Men had new life, and took advantage.
Willy Moore. Pissed off the entire game, Willy was screaming commands at his team, and led them to a big time win with 22 points. The story, I think, is that AK-47 is for real now that Gorodetsky is back. Watch out.
"Give the ball to Willy and get the fuck out of his way. That was our offense tonight" - Alex Hankin

Up Next: Men vs. Globo Gym. AK-47 vs. AD.
#9 Boo Radley and Friends 38 - #3 Globo Gym Purple Cobras 24
IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
Globo Gym went down 15-4. Boo Radley kept a double digit lead the rest of the game
Spencer Levin. Spencer orchestrated the early run, and it was never really close. Although he's the tallest player on the court, he let the rebounding get done by Justin Horwitz, who finished with around 10 boards.
"Blogspot that bitches!" - Alex Rosen
Up Next: Globo Gym vs. Men. Boo Radley vs. We Are Huge in Japan.
#4 AD 32 - #15 Hungry Unicorns 11

IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
The schedule was set. Brandon Batt came in jeans and so did Miles Lashley. Looks to me like the boys are getting a little cocky. Big game next week with AK-47.
Matt Coan, team captain of AD, who turned in the team's application 17th, ensuring his team would play the easiest schedule out of everyone. Another good spot would've been 10, where OKC ended up.
"Of course" - Brandon Batt, being asked if AD won.

Up Next: AD vs. AK-47. Hungry Unicorns vs. Elect Judge Jim Wascher.

#5 Theo 49 - #16 Tuesday's With Morrie 24

IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
Theo won last week. They secured the privelege of only having to win one game to lock up an A-league spot. Tuesday's With Morrie didn't prove to be much of a challenge.
Cody Hines. Take one look at that shot and tell me to not give him MVP.
"I'm really strong" - Nick Nykaza (aka I didn't have a quote)

Up Next: Theo vs. Ba Dunk-A-Dunk. Tuesday's With Morrie vs. Attack the Rack.
#10 Elect Judge Jim Wascher 44 - #7 Oklahoma City Thunder 32

IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
I pulled aside John Cook after school, and told him Jim Wascher needed a 5th. The kid came to play, not scoring a lot, but playing with intensity, grabbing boards (I mean the kid's 6'6") and playing defense.
John Cook. Who Else? He brings the Connor Smith height, and long arms element to Elect Judge Jim Wascher, except he does it exponentially better. Look for Cook to possibly lead a late season charge by Jim Wascher. Remember: this is the same team that won the title as the 8 seed freshman year."Even though Dsida scored 30, John Cook is the answer to our prayers" - Jack Wascher

Up Next: OKC vs. Brown. Jim Wascher vs. Hungry Unicorns.
#11 Ortega 42 - #8 Brown 33
IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
Stu Brown and Christian Sarkisian started shooting from beyond the arc. They went down early, and tried to force the issue with long balls. It didn't work out.
Ben Morton. Morton saw what needed to be done (a win), and did it. He and Reid Berry both contributed for Ortega, both around 15 points. He also drew a few fouls...
"It's lucky the Ben Morton School of Flopping hasn't been affected by this economy" - Sarkisian
Up Next: Brown vs. OKC. Ortega vs. Barifinkle.
#13 Attack the Rack 22 - #12 We Are Huge in Japan 20

IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
Nick Dronen's game-tying buzzer beater, was ruled void, as his foot was out of bounds. Maybe the boldest call we've seen all year. This one most likely vaulted Attack the Rack into the playoffs, and Japan out of them. Gutsy play of the game: Japan going shirtless. I repeat: no players wore a shirt.
Peter Lind. Peter had 12 points and seems to have pushed Attack the Rack into the playoffs. Sam Shapiro made 3 out of 4 free-throws at the end while Japan was fouling.
"The two reasons we lost: the ref, and most of all Nick Kafkis" - Anonymous, after turning it over 5 times in 3 minutes, Kafkis may get kicked off We Are Huge in Japan.

Up Next: Japan vs. Boo Radley. Attack the Rack vs. Tuesday's With Morrie

#17 Tallula 27 - #18 Ba Dunk-A-Dunk 22

IT WAS OVER WHEN...GAME BALL GOES TO...QUOTE
Connor O'Halleran hit two free-throws (in a one and one) to put Tallula up by 3. From there Ba Dunk-A-Dunk didn't score and was forced to foul O'Halleran again, who knocked down 2 more.
Connor O'Halleran. Good free-throw shooting comes from dedication and practice. That kid's got more heart than anyone I know. Tallula will finish with one, maybe two (if they beat Malkin next week), while Ba Dunk-A-Dunk will complete a winless season (Theo next week).
"We Ba Suck-A-Suck" - Andrew Heisler

Up Next: Tallula vs. Malkin. Ba Dunk-A-Dunk vs. Theo.

how the hell was Gordo supposed to know how much time was left...they said one and he threw it up. With no replay or shot clock they totally blew the call. It was an amazing shot and it should have counted.

from what i hear, it sounds like maley and gorodetsky were in the same situation. I think the ref's have got to realize there's no way anybody knows how much time is left, and basically, everyone knew there was time for one last shot. Gorodetsky made the shot and you have to reward him for that. Bad call by the refs, and if your gonna call it no good you can't call it good for Maley, regardless of how much time was on the clock in each situation. Everyone thought there was more time on the clock, so they played like their was, it wasn't like Gorodetsky scored with nobody guarding him cause Sopko thought the play was over. Everyone was still giving it their all. But a loss may be better than a win with how erratic seeding is. Now you might have an easier road, on the bright side.

also, as im sure many of you have noticed, newtriernightleague.blogspot.com has gone commercial with advertisements. There are a lot of good offers out there, none will give you viruses, there are legitimately good ads, so feel free to look around and explore.
